So with the new year in full swing, a lot of people are working on getting into shape.
One piece of advice I can offer people is have a plan when you goto the gym.
I went yesterday, I thought we were going to take a day off so I didn’t plan any workout, or lookup a routine, so when we went there I spent an hr working out but it was random.
I did some cardio, I worked on a few machines, did some free weights, worked all different parts of the body, which isn’t the best for what I’m trying to do, focus on different body parts on different days.
I got a good workout in, but it wasn’t focused, and if I had made a plan it would have been so much more effective.
I just started using an app again called Gymaholic to plan my workouts, I had forgotten about it until recently when I was discussing things with a friend.
I used that app when I first decided I wanted to get into shape, I used it on my watch to track my workouts, until I found out you could not get the badge awards unless you used apples stock workout app, which I still think is nuts, but that’s besides the point.
So I spent an afternoon setting it back up, it’s a subscription based service, but it’s very worth it, with the sub you get a ton of exercises with demonstrations how to do them in the app, as well as a bunch of routines.
If you take a little time to plan your workouts it will be less stressful and overwhelming once you get to the gym, especially if your new to fitness, as well as very beneficial in setting up workouts that focus on specific areas of your body.
